Whether it’s a jaw-dropping music video or an iconic selfie, Emily Ratajkowski never fails to question: “Why are women shamed for their sexuality?” The actress and model has caused quite a stir with her stance on female nudity, but her objectives and goals have never swayed.

Emily’s Harper’s Bazaar cover has put her in the firing line once again. Never a stranger to nudity, Emily sits astride a white horse with only her hair for modesty, move over Lady Godiva.

The cover star spoke to Naomi Wolf for Harper’s Bazaar about the hypocrisy of applauding some women for refusing to cover up while judgmentally shaming those who are sexualized for taking their clothes off.

She told Wolf: “You know, when Lena Dunham takes her clothes off, she gets flack, but it's also considered brave; when Justin Bieber takes his shirt off, he's a grown-up. But when a woman who is sexual takes off her top, it plays into something.

“There is a distinction in the reaction between, for example, Kim taking off her shirt and Lena. It's not fair to either of them.

While the infamous nude picture was Kim’s message to a direct group of haters (including Piers Morgan), to the Gone Girl actress it was about making a general statement.

Emily uses her social media presence to get straight to the heart of the issue. “Some posts are more intentioned than others. That selfie with Kim was very intentioned, very direct. I had the tweets lined up for when it launched because I wanted those things to be what came with the image when the media started covering it” she said.

Ratajkowski says “absolutely every picture” of her attracts sexually explicit comments and attacks, regardless of what it depicts.

“It's not right. Sex is normal. Desire is normal. Attention is normal, and that's okay. That's really what slut shaming is, right? You talk about this in your book Promiscuities. A woman talks about having sex, and it's like, well, a guy got to have sex with you, so you're stupid. You've given something up.”
